Black Pepper Beef Garlic Fried Rice
A high-protein Chinese-inspired black pepper beef stir-fry served over garlic fried rice with over 50g of protein. Thinly sliced beef is marinated and seared until crispy, then simmered in a rich black pepper sauce with onions and bell peppers. Served alongside simple garlic butter fried rice.
Ingredients
beef
- 300 g beef (thinly sliced)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 0.25 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp corn flour
- 1 tbsp olive oil
rice
- 1 tbsp light butter
- 3 cloves garlic (chopped)
- 200 g cooked rice (leftover cooked)
sauce
- 100 ml beef broth
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tsp rice vinegar
stir-fry
- 1 medium onion (sliced)
- 1 medium bell pepper (sliced)
Steps

1Thinly slice beef and marinate with soy sauce, black pepper, garlic powder, baking soda, corn flour and olive oil. Mix until well combined.~10 min

2Make the black pepper sauce by combining beef broth, light and dark soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, black pepper and corn flour. Mix well.~2 min

3Cook the beef for 1 to 2 minutes on high heat until golden brown and crispy. Set aside.~3 min

4Add onions and bell peppers to the pan. Cook for 5 minutes until soft, then add the sauce with the beef. Cook until the sauce thickens.~7 min

5For the garlic fried rice, add light butter with chopped garlic and cook until golden. Add leftover cooked rice with soy sauce and mix well.~5 min

6Serve the garlic rice with the black pepper beef on top.
